The above mural is my personal favorite, but they are all magnificent in their own ways.

I am part Hawaiian, and was born in Hilo.

I am not affiliated with this art program, but I think it is very important, and have friends whose work is featured in the Complex Art and Design pictorial, in addition to other publications of works painted on Oahu, such as this wonderful tribute mural by the artist known as CRYTPIK, an artist I am currently curating a different project with,
to be announced soon.

I am an advocate of, and work in the world of public art wanted to share these;
Hawaii is very near and dear to my heart, as is art.

The importance of this happening on the island of Oahu is significant.
Especially the traditional renderings that positively honor and recognize the Hawaiian culture, and King and Queen, (the only monarchy in the United States).

Visual art is a language everyone understands, no matter what language is spoken.

I feel this imagery will help uplift the real, true Hawaiian people, and inspire young artists to share their gifts which will encourage the elders to "talk story" which will
continue preserving and nurturing the true meaning
of "Aloha", which is being sold and erased at an alarming rate.

Through these works of art painted on buildings and roll-ups, by world class public, urban, and graffiti artists from around the world the stories will be shared in other places around the globe, especially the stories of ancient times when Hawaii was truly paradise, which will in mystical ways help to heal damage done.

I have been told by friends who are Hawaiian, when painting depictions of ancient Hawaii, the ancestors will appear. I believe this to be true, also based on experiences I have had when visiting. To see more images, and learn more about Pow! Wow! Hawaii,
