LUCENT DOSSIER EXPERIENCE AND HERAKUT

“INTO THE UNKNOWING ~ WHEN LUCENT FOUND HERAKUT”

LUCENT DOSSIER EXPERIENCE
RETURNS TO THE DOWNTOWN PALACE THEATRE,
LOS ANGELES
FOR A TWO-NIGHT RUN,
FRIDAY, FEBRUARY 17 AND SATURDAY, FEBRUARY 18 WITH WORLD-RENOWNED STREET ARTISTS
HERAKUT

February 10, 2012 (Los Angeles, CA) -- The team behind LUCENT DOSSIER is excited to announce critically acclaimed German street artist duo HERAKUT will be joining world-renowned avant-garde performance troupe LUCENT DOSSIER EXPERIENCE, for a two-night run on Friday, February 17th and Saturday, February 18th. They will unite surreal creative forces, on stage at the Palace Theatre in Downtown Los Angeles for a 90-minute show combining live painting with Lucent’s unique stage presence.  HERAKUT will add their signature style of art to the set, walls, and performer costuming while the show unfolds.  With a combination of live and prerecorded imagery LUCENT DOSSIER and HERAKUT will be constructing a living installation that will grow from one night to the next. This is HERAKUT’s first-ever, live performance on a theatre stage in front of a seated audience.

These are characters that are being created in the minds
of the Lucent Dossier performers and built in the hands of Herakut.

Last year, the July 28, 2011 sold-out LUCENT DOSSIER EXPERIENCE officially unveiled the newly restored Palace Theatre on its 100th birthday followed by a successful weekend run October 21 and 22, 2011. This new 2012, unprecendented collaboration of LUCENT DOSSIER EXPERIENCE and Herakut promises something never experienced before.

A Sketched Herakut Character Comes to Life

The overwhelming excitement for this collaboration is sending ripples through the art world. After two successful runs at the Palace, Artistic Director and Lucent performer Dream Rockwell shares this feeling saying: “This collaboration with the amazing HERAKUT has transported us into a whole new dimension, beyond our imagination.  Through our meetings together and performance rehearsals, we have sparked a unique stage vision and costuming direction beyond our expectations. I feel like I’ve been sucked into a playground of dolls and forest creatures that are both opening and breaking my heart. I have been so moved by this process. This is an amazing way to launch into 2012. As human’s I think we are always searching for those deep experiences that make us feel something. This is for sure one of them.”

HERAKUT themselves add: "The most exciting part for us about working with the crazy Lucent performers is to have our Herakut-characters come to life! Working on each costume is like creating a 3-D artwork, but then have the dancers breather life into our creations, and actually move around and even interact with us - that is probably a dream-come-true for every painter! ...we have never painted and performed on a theatre stage in front of a seated audience. Usually our audience and walls are outside on the streets and our performance co-workers aren't quite as crazy as the Lucent bunch! They don't spit fire or dangle from the ceiling or anything like that!

Following each performance is the legendary Lucent after-party. Dream
hints that there will “…still be several elements in the show that everyone knows and loves, but the new stuff is really, really epic”. She also shares, “Our after party side alleys will still be activated with secret surprise stations and performance elements long into the night, so you can dance the night away to Lowriderz on Friday and Imagika Om on Saturday during the after party…or go explore, the choice is yours! Just know that Herakut is going to be an AMAZING addition!!”

Built in 1911 as the third Los Angeles home of the Orpheum Vaudeville circuit, it is the oldest remaining Orpheum theatre in the country.  Every major vaudeville star on the Orpheum circuit performed in this theatre.

The Delijani Family has worked to restore the venue and to revive its timeless essence. The intimate scale of the Palace Theatre in concert with its elegant French details compares to a 17th-century European opera house. With garland-draped columns, a color scheme of pale pastels, wall murals depicting pastoral scenes, and ceiling murals of whimsical girls, this 1911 theatre offers an unusually charming and graceful setting.

Lucent Dossier's spellbinding performances, Haute Couture costuming, and avant-garde concepts have won them praise for their shows at Coachella (5 consecutive years), the Grammy Celebration (3 years) and Electric Picnic Festival in Ireland (5 years). Critical praise from LUCENT DOSSIER EXPERIENCE’s October 21st and 22nd shows:

“The Lucent Dossier Experience is a sensual juxtaposition of performing artists, dancers and musicians that will alter your reality and your senses with a psychedelic array of color, sound and light.”
--Paty Elias, LA.COM, 12/26/2011

“The Lucent Dossier Experience is unlike any other night of entertainment. It is very much theatre, but also part concert, acrobats, circus, dance performance, and opera. It’s a blend of all these things, but a truly unique experience. The music is hot, the costumes are elaborate, and the energy is electric.  Imagine a lower budget Cirque de Soleil that retains the creativity but ups the freak factor. If Madonna tried to reinvent herself as a dubstep artist on an arena tour, this is the group she’d want on stage with her.”
Nick Wilson, LAIST.COM, 11/2/2011

LUCENT DOSSIER EXPERIENCE

With a cast of fulltime clowns and freaks that work overtime as musicians, vocalists, dancers, aerialists, and fire artists, LDE is quite simply one of the most uniquely entertaining shows you can experience. We’ve all watched plays or musicals, seen fire spinners, aerialists, dancers, live bands, and singers, but the culmination of all these performance arts meshed together into one product (with a dash of creepycrawly) is seriously just perplexing and amazing.
Tim Wut, LA MUSIC BLOG, 10/28/2011

Los Angeles' favorite mad-cap vaudeville troupe invites you to experience their whimsical "velvet underworld" at downtown's historic Palace theatre. The group's two night run (which begins on Friday) will feature Lucent's ever-stunning displays of creative theatrics, dance, aerial ballet and live music.

LUCENT DOSSIER 2011

You could try and pigeonhole Lucent Dossier as a mix of aerial acrobatics, steampunk showmanship and thumping dubstep back beats. But the immense avante-garde spectacle at the Palace Theatre on Fri-Sat., Oct. 21-22, brings new meaning to Kierkegaard’s assertion “once you label me you negate me.” Witnessing this glowing testament to freedom of expression and movement makes you feel like you’re doing something naughty, even if you’re only sitting and watching. The theater is filled with surprises: Scantily costumed performers wander about and the pure energy of flames and rhythm coming from the stage is overwhelming. Do yourself a favor and don’t ask too many questions. Just snag a ticket and experience this treasure of the Los Angeles underground.

Chinese New Year of the Dragon, Los Angeles Chinatown Style!

This man, will forever be known to me as
"The Busking Chinese Violin Player with a Heart Full of Joy and Happiness that You Hear in His Melody." He let me take his photo, and I had a dollar and gladly gave it to him with a thank you.
In return he gave me so much joy in his gratitude, and a beautiful Bodhi Meditation scroll.
He had so much happiness and sincere love coming from him that I wanted to stay and keep saying thank you, truly a blessed moment :)
