December 1, 2011 (Los Angeles, CA) -- On December 3^rd contemporary graffiti artist, Adam “Codak” Smith will be painting a mural commissioned by Ironlak inside their Los Angeles flagship store, and will be filmed while painting for an upcoming promotional piece about the Australian based aerosol company. In addition, the following weekend he will be painting a body art piece incorporating a model into the freshly painted wall. The private, closed live painting session will be photographed in real time, with images turned into a limited edition print series for Ironlak.

Favoring both brush and spray paint, Codak is known for his architectural line forms, intertwined with languid swirls, geometric shapes and an unusual mix of drippy palettes of color, resulting in a striking piece of contemporary art. Inspired by his roots as a graffiti artist, these visual descriptions represent a few anomalous characteristics of the multi-dimensional artist. This will be Codak’s second installation at this location.

Born in Oklahoma, and raised in Portland, OR, his trek back and forth across the United States has lead him to walls in major cities throughout the country and overseas, including England, and Slovakia, pages in magazines, bodies as canvas, and galleries in Oregon and California. Recent exhibitions include: Barnsdall Art Park’s “Beyond Eden”, Steve Grody’s “Street Cred” at Pasadena Museum of California Art, Hold-Up Art, Cave Gallery, Ronin Gallery, Crewest, as well as BackSpace, in Portland, OR.  Recent commissions include California Shabu-Shabu in Santa Monica, and the Ayezenberg Agency in Pasadena.
